GEEKS' LUNCH CONTEST
May 2005
Prize:
Win your choice of 1).
A very cool high security cut-away Medeco lock supplied by
an ex-three letter agency lock guru.
or
2). A bumper sticker that proclaims your
skilz as a "Hacker".
Take your pick.
The Story:
Evil Genius and hacker extraordonaire
Monta Elkins was released from prison yesterday after serving 15 years
for prosecution under the DMCA for devising a method of decoding the
famed rot13 encryption. (His genius further demonstrated while in
prison (and without any access to computer equipment), by also
developing decryption methods for double and even triple rot13
encoding; but I digress).
Before entering prison Mr. Elkins fathered a single son. Given
his paranoia and predicting the future security state, he decided to
make his son search-proof (google-proof). To accomplish this task
he named his son "Bill Gates", recognizing that this name would be
nearly impossible to search because of false positives. He
considered his son well hidden.
During his time in prison Mr. Elkins lost
all contact with his son Bill Gates and since being released is
now engaged in a desperate search to find him. Knowing that his
son is also a computer genius and will have web pages somewhere on the
Internet he begins his search; but the only Bill Gates he can find
(other than the Microsoft founder) is obviously not his son.

Time for you to match wits with the evil genius hacker, Monta Elkins
and help him find his lost son.
Challenge:
You must supply a link to a web page of
a person named "Bill Gates" that is obviously, (to the
sole-contest-God), not the Microsoft founder or one of his close
relatives. The most convincing (non-parody) link will be the
winner. You must submit a 1 paragraph description of how you
found the link. (Links must have existed prior to May 3, 2005
i.e. you can't create a page and point to it) Note: I have not
hidden a "Bill Gates" somewhere; The challenge is to find "someone
else" named Bill Gates; (anyone else).
Hints:
Up to 3 submissions are allowed per
person (in case you are not sure how the contest-judge (me) will weight
your link.) I will be grading links on many factors; Some points
will weight be awarded for submissions containing (any) birthdate,
pictures, professional certifications of Bill Gates. (Matching
race, geographic proximity to 24073, birthdate close to May 3, 1980
will be worth addition points.) Entries containing journals or
life histories that clearly show this is not the Bill Gates of
Microsoft fame will also earn additional points. Clever use of
search techniques / engines will be equally weighted with the quality
of the result submitted. Given the general murkiness of the
point-weighting system, at this point I believe it is prudent to point
out line 2 under the "fine print" section.
Rules:
1) Entries must be received by me by midnight
of May 8, 2005 my time.
Send them to monta.glcontest@geekslunch.com with the word "Contest" in

4) Work in groups if you like but there will only be 1 prize.
5) Earliest submission wins in case of "equally weighted".
